4. KHALAM (MEDICATED BUTTERMILK)

INGREDIENTS:

(measurements for one glass of Buttermilk)

  1. One small piece of Ginger
  2. 2 cups of Buttermilk
  3. 2 pinches of Asafoetida
  4. 2 pinches of Turmeric
  5. Rock Salt as per taste
  6. 2 pinches of Pepper

INSTRUCTIONS:

Make a paste out of ginger. Add the Ginger paste to boiling buttermilk and boil further for a minute. Add powdered asafoetida, rock salt and pepper. The Khalam is ready.

BENEFITS:

It is an appetizer and beneficial during recovery from illnesses. Useful during cold, cough, digestive problems or any other health problem.

PRECAUTIONS:

Buttermilk may cause allergic reactions in some people with lactose intolerance.
