4. KHALAM (MEDICATED BUTTERMILK)
INGREDIENTS:
(measurements for one glass of Buttermilk)
- One small piece of Ginger
- 2 cups of Buttermilk
- 2 pinches of Asafoetida
- 2 pinches of Turmeric
- Rock Salt as per taste
- 2 pinches of Pepper
INSTRUCTIONS:
Make a paste out of ginger. Add the Ginger paste to boiling buttermilk and boil further for a minute. Add powdered asafoetida, rock salt and pepper. The Khalam is ready.

It is an appetizer and beneficial during recovery from illnesses. Useful during cold, cough, digestive problems or any other health problem.

Buttermilk may cause allergic reactions in some people with lactose intolerance.
